Something from a weeks old podcast’s been making the rounds, and (after double-checking the transcription), it struck me as interesting for a couple reasons:
(1) It’s Undertaker-related, and wrestling fans are always interesting in Undertaker-related content.
(2) We often hear chatter implying The Dead Man has retired or wants to step away from performing, but WWE/Vince McMahon keeps asking him for more matches.
This Triple H quote from before Greatest Royal Rumble, taken from an interview on Sky Sports’ Lock Up podcast, paints a different picture:
“If there’s one person who has earned the right to call the shots the way they want it to be called - it’s The Undertaker.
I think this [his schedule] should, this will all depend on him and I think it should all depend on him. I think at this point it should be what he wants to and feels comfortable doing. I know that he as a performer wants to always be able to give his best, and if he can’t then he doesn’t want to do it, and I think when he’s in a position like he is right now, where he feels great and wants to be out there and show The Undertaker to the world, but it’s again, it really comes down to what he wants to do, as it should.”
The other big takeaway is The Game’s report that The Phenom feels great. Which whether we ever see him wrestle again - because he wants to or at someone else’s request - is great news.
Does he still feel like showing Undertaker to the world after a trip to Saudi Arabia? We shall see.
