People are really mad online about Some Kid being chosen as Braun Strowman’s tag team partner at WrestleMania 34 last night (Sun., April 8, 2018) at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. There’s a lot of stuff like this going around:
I’m angry that there are guys who bust their ass 300 days out of the year who didn’t get that spot. I’m angry the same way I would be at any scripted show who completely shit on the expectations of their fans. Why should I ever care about the tag titles again?

I enjoyed the Nicholas segment, but if a one-off character killed off two popular characters in Game of Thrones there would be absolute hell to pay from the GoT fanbase.

A hair different Ryan. We were all waiting for Braun’s partner, waiting for the Big pay off and they took a huge Nepotistic shit on our laps.. Surely you know the difference.. imagine how everyone on the roster who hasn’t won anything feels.. story made no sense...

These seem like massive overreactions at worst and fans completely missing the point at best. Not only did it make sense, this was a great way to pay this off, and maybe the only way.
Braun Strowman won a tag team battle royal match by himself. That’s how he became number one contender to the Raw tag team titles. His intention all along was to wrestle Cesaro & Sheamus alone, and win the belts alone. That’s exactly what he did.
Raw General Manager Kurt Angle made him choose a tag team partner. How much sense would it have made for him to go with, say, Samoa Joe, or Big Cass? That would presume he bowed to someone else’s wishes, which completely goes against his character. So he found a way to get what he wanted.
And he pulled a babyface move putting Some Kid over in the process.
What baffles me about the blowback to this the most is the kid didn’t do anything! He tagged in, froze, and tagged back out. It would be one thing if The Bar was selling for him. That didn’t happen. This isn’t nearly as egregious as Stephanie McMahon successfully fending off multiple armbar attempts from Ronda Rousey.
This was a fun way to work this to get to what they were always getting to anyway. Going deeper into it than that is silly.
