WrestleMania 34 rapid reaction: commentary on every match

Zach and I were at the Superdome for WrestleMania 34 and at 1:21 a.m. Monday morning, we decided to record some of our thoughts about the show.

We discuss every match on the card in some capacity, kicking off with a triple threat match between The Miz, Finn Balor and Seth Rollins.

Rollins won the match, becoming the third and final Shield member to clinch grand slam honors.

Zach: “How about it!? Seth opened the show. We were talking about it earlier—I was confused. They had changed his graphics and all of a sudden, the show’s starting and it’s Seth’s music. It’s not a commercial. Your eyes do not deceive you. It’s go time! It’s IC Championship time. There’s nobody I had rather see come out of the gate first than Seth Rollins. What a special treat for your boy.”

Pete: “You called it because he’s your favorite. Maybe you didn’t believe it in your heart.”

Zach: “No, I did. I didn’t have a single doubt for a single second.”

Pete: (laughter)

Zach: “I didn’t really even really pop as much when he won because I was like, ‘I knew this was going to happen.’”

Pete: “Right.”

Zach: “The ultimate, true company man. The true professional has everything together. He’s got all the pieces—anything you could possibly want. He is creative wrestler perfection. Anything you could want in a wrestler—Seth Rollins did it. (He) deserved the belt, got it. Great match. Very fun.”

Pete: “I’m interested in seeing where the Miz goes from here, I really thought he’d keep the title because he’s trying to build towards becoming the what he’s calling ‘the greatest Intercontinental Champion of all time.’ I think he’s 32 or 33 days away of combined days of being the most all time with the best, which is pretty impressive when you think of all the Intercontinental Champions, including guys even recently like Chris Jericho. Think about how often it seemed like Chris Jericho had that title when he was a WWE full-timer. But no, I don’t think it’s going to be leaving Seth anytime soon. I think he’s going to continue this recent tradition that Miz had of continuing to build up the Intercontinental Title. Again, we said it even before the show—Seth had a great year, so good to see him get the belt.”

We talk about each match in the full episode, which you can find at this link or in the player below. New episodes every week.
