UPDATE: According to WWE sources who spoke to both Pro Wrestling Sheet and Dave Meltzer at The Observer, Fox was never cleared for the Battle Royal, so her being pulled was not a result of the video with Browne.
Original reporting based on Wrestling Observer’s pre-WrestleMania story follows:
As my colleague Geno Mrosko mentioned in his post on the video which hit the internet today of Alicia Fox shouting at Ronda Rousey’s husband, UFC fighter Travis Browne, it was not something WWE would want to be part of the conversation ahead of Ronda’s first pro wrestling match.
He was exactly right, according to word from Wrestling Observer. Fox was apparently supposed to return from injury for the Women’s Battle Royal at WrestleMania 34 on Sun., April 8. Due to the run-in with Browne, or at least the publication of video from the scene on Saturday night, WWE has pulled the former Divas Champion from that match.
Whatever the backstory to the few seconds of tape we saw, it looks like it was a costly mistake for Fox. Whether this is the end of the fallout for taking attention away from WWE’s newest big female star... we’ll have to wait to find out.
