WrestleMania 34 results: Naomi wins first ever WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal

WWE Network

With an entire women’s division to satisfy, WWE decided the best way to get them all on the card at tonight’s (Sun., April 8, 2018) WrestleMania 34 pay-per-view (PPV) at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana, was to create an annual battle royal. So that’s what they did: The WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal.

Becky Lynch got her own entrance before they brought out the rest of the field sans Bayley and Sasha Banks, who also got their own entrance. That’s one hell of a way to establish who is important in this match and who isn’t.

The field included multiple women from the NXT roster.

Carmella made history as the first woman eliminated from a WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal match. Everyone ganged up on her to toss her out. Then they did the same to Dana Brooke.

Then the NXT wrestlers all banded together and ran wild on the WWE stars. They tried to start an “NXT” chant, because they’re stupid and loyal to a promotion over their own interests, but it didn’t quite catch.

They gave NXT some more shine before WWE evened things up and it became something closer to a traditional battle royal.

At the close, they set it up so that it was The Riott Squad and Natalya opposite Banks and Bayley. The two teamed together to toss out Nattie, then Morgan, then Riott, and, finally, Sarah Logan.

That left just Banks and Bayley. Sasha went to give Bayley a hug and Bayley took advantage, tossing her out. It seemed the match was over but NOPE. They did the dumb “wrestler who went under the rope and has been hiding until you forgot them right up to the end when they reappear and win the match” booking.

Naomi wins.
