Mixed Tag Team Match

Ronda Rousey & Kurt Angle vs. Stephanie McMahon & Triple H

Ronda Rousey made her shocking WWE debut at Royal Rumble 2018. She shook Stephanie McMahon’s hand and pointed at the WrestleMania sign, leaving no doubt that she would play a major role at the biggest card of the year on Sunday, April 8, from the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.

One month later at Elimination Chamber 2018, the former UFC champion appeared for her official Raw contract signing. Triple H, Kurt Angle, and Stephanie McMahon enthusiastically welcomed the mega star to WWE and everything appeared to be going as planned.

But then Kurt Angle, perhaps suffering from double pneumonia, spoke up and said that Triple H and Stephanie McMahon were still seething about the humiliation they suffered at Ronda’s hands 3 years ago at WrestleMania 31, and they have been waiting for this opportunity to control her and finally get some revenge. Or as Kurt recalled the conversation, “Three years in the making and now we own the b...”

Not surprisingly, the contract signing went straight to hell, and Ronda Rousey swiftly threw Triple H through a table. Stephanie McMahion viciously slapped Ronda in the face before retreating, and it was clear where this was all headed.

The following night on Raw, Rousey demanded an apology from Stephanie for the slap, otherwise she threatened to rip Stephanie McMahon’s arm out of its socket. Stephanie saved her arm by apologizing, but then Triple H quickly knocked Kurt Angle out with a sucker punch, and the McMahons immediately left the ring.

Kurt Angle had enough of the abuse from Triple H and so on the March 5 episode of Raw, our Olympic Hero demanded that Triple H confront him in the ring like a man. This eventually led to Rousey, Stephanie, and Triple H all entering the ring, and the revelation that Rousey’s contract allows her to select any non-champion member of the active roster as her WrestleMania opponent. The audience erupted when Rousey chose the Billion Dollar Princess as her WrestleMania victim.

Triple H tried to defuse the situation by stating that Stephanie is not a member of the active roster. Kurt Angle interjected and emphatically stated that Stephanie does indeed have a contract as a WWE Superstar, and so using his power as Raw General Manager, he put together a mixed tag team match for WrestleMania 34 - Ronda Rousey and Kurt Angle versus Stephanie McMahon and Triple H!

Triple H tried to sucker punch Kurt one more time but Angle was ready this time and he trapped The Game in the Ankle Lock. In the chaos, Stephanie managed to land a cheap shot on Ronda, but Rousey eventually got her hands on McMahon and crushed her with a Samoan Drop.

Four weeks later, on the April 2 episode of Raw, there was a face-to-face talking segment between the two teams. The McMahons stated that Kurt Angle’s stupidity already cost both Ronda Rousey and WWE millions of dollars, because now Ronda was going to start her WWE career with an embarrassing loss at WrestleMania, and they would need to rebuild her reputation from the ground up. Ronda responded by simply reaffirming that she was going to rip Stephanie’s arm off at WrestleMania 34.

When the time for talking was over, the segment culminated in a classy photo opportunity. Triple H took advantage of this situation to nail Kurt from behind with a microphone. Rousey instinctively grabbed Triple H by the throat, leaving Stephanie McMahon to sneak from behind and slam Rousey through a table. The McMahons gloated and talked trash over the fallen bodies of Rousey and Angle.

The big moment is finally here. Ronda Rousey is going to compete in a WWE ring for the very first time at WrestleMania 34, and she is determined to finish what she started with the McMahons way back at WrestleMania 31.
