Given the unenviable task of following the car crash of a ladder match which opened NXT’s live special on Sat., April 7, Ember Moon and Shayna Baszler got right to work making their latest one-on-one showdown as violent as their previous ones.
With fellow MMA Horsewomen Ronda Rousey and Jessamyn Duke in the front row, Baszler was ruthless and survived. But the story of the match began when The Queen of Spades went for her signature elbow stomp spot, but the Women’s champ turned the tables and stepped on Shayna’s fingers to snap her arm down to the mat with her boot.
Baszler’s shoulder was “dislocated”, and the heel used the ring post to slam it back into place. That wasn’t enough to end it, and a Moon leap left both women wiped out on the floor.

They made it back in before a ten count ended things, and Ember looked to end it with her Eclipse finisher. She lept right into Baszler’s rear naked choke, however. She tried to fight out with a powerbomb, and survived (longer than was probably necessary and certainly longer than was necessary), but even with one-arm, Shayna’s grip was too tight.
Moon vowed that Baszler would never be champ while she was still standing. And when she passed out, she kept that vow. But lost her title.
