Raw Tag Team Championship Match

The Bar (c) vs. Braun Strowman & Mystery Partner

WWE’s decision to book Brock Lesnar versus Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 34, combined with the choice of Kurt Angle as Ronda Rousey’s tag team partner, left Braun Strowman without a clear direction for the biggest show of the year.

Strowman went from challenging Lesnar at the Royal Rumble and dominating the field at Elimination Chamber to...mid-card segments with Elias. After the Monster Among Men crushed Elias with a piano during a Symphony of Destruction, he decided to enter a number one contender’s tag team battle royal. Braun did not have a partner but he won nonetheless, partially because he’s the most destructive force in WWE, but also because just about every tag team currently on Raw is lower-card fodder.

Kurt Angle mandated that Braun Strowman must find a tag team partner in order to receive this shot at The Bar’s tag titles at WrestleMania 34 on April 8, from the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. Braun embraced this opportunity but did not name a partner. Instead, he spent his time picking up separate singles victories over Cesaro and Sheamus on back-to-back episodes of Raw in March.

Cesaro and Sheamus pressed Braun to name his partner, and so Strowman finally relented and revealed his brother, Brains Strowman.

Brains and Braun would almost certainly wipe the floor with The Bar at WrestleMania 34, but it doesn’t look like this joke will be allowed to stand by Kurt Angle. Therefore Strowman will need to lower his chances of winning by actually finding a partner rather than going solo. Could his partner be one of Big Show, Rey Mysterio, Bobby Lashley, Samoa Joe, Kane, James Ellsworth, or John Cena? We already have a good idea that it won’t be Curt Hawkins because wins and losses matter to Braun Strowman.

The mystery partner angle is the big hook for this match, so there is pressure on WWE to deliver a compelling superstar for that role. The Bar did play a key role in attempting to commit garbage truck homicide on Strowman back at TLC 2017, so perhaps Strowman will have a fitting response for them at the end of this match.
