Mixed Match Challenge Week 12
Geno here. Let us do this.
We start out with the Robe Warriors, and they get a showcase video for the charity they are wrestling for. The crowd is, again, out of gas. That includes for both Asuka, who already appeared tonight, and for The Miz, who normally wouldn’t be at these shows.
Beth Phoenix wonders how being a new dad will affect The Miz and his chances at WrestleMania. He’s really busy already, but now he has a baby at home. It’s a tough gig.
They also got a showcase for their charity.
The Miz & Asuka vs. Bobby Roode & Charlotte
Miz wanted to start so Asuka let him. Roode asked “you know what’s awesome?” Then he worked the “Glorious” gimmick. The crowd went along with it, so Miz put his hand up to put all their mouths shut, especially Roode.
Corey Graves wondered if that would work in his parenting.
Charlotte got in on it with a big “WOOOOO” and Roode did the same. Miz just stood there for all this and Asuka was getting pissed about it, seeing as her streak is on the line. Bobby and Charlotte both then physically knocked him around and almost hit the Glorious DDT to send this thing home early.
He escaped, however, and right into the corner so he could tag in Asuka.
This is the first time these two will lock up.
Collar and elbow tie up and they both get a throw off it but never break the hold. The story is they’re both great and won’t back down. When they got close to the corner, Miz tagged himself back in, much to the chagrin of Asuka.
He immediately almost got pinned twice.
When he gained control, he tried to taunt Flair with the Figure Four but it never worked out. It wasn’t long until the women were back in and finally wrestling. Charlotte took control and hit the moonsault, leading to a classic Michael Cole premature call of the finish. “The streak is over,” he shouted as Asuka kicked out to keep the streak alive.
Carmella was in the comments saying she was taking notes here. That’s good, too, because whatever she’s doing now isn’t working, considering her multiple cash-in fails.
Back to the match and it’s Roode and Miz in the ring again. Roode got a lariat off the top rope but couldn’t finish Miz off. Miz came back with the “IT” kicks but he also couldn’t finish. Asuka and Charlotte were both down on the outside while their teammates fought in the ring. Charlotte recovered to reach the apron first. Miz again tried to taunt with the Figure Four but he was countered again.
The next time he went for it, Charlotte speared him and followed up by putting the Figure Four on him. Asuka responded to this by kicking her in the head before rolling out of the ring. Roode recovered and came in with a Spinebuster for a two count.
He tried for the Glorious DDT but Asuka came in to kick him in the neck. She then took Charlotte out to give Miz a chance to hit the Skull Crushing Finale. He did, and that was enough to get the pin.
Asuka & The Miz def. Charlotte & Bobby Roode
Renee Young got in the ring for an interview and asked about their win for their charity. Miz’s response was “It’s for the puppies!”
Good stuff.
Miz then took the mic for himself and talked about this being the best week of his life, becoming a father and all that, and then went into a bit putting over all the charities involved in the Mixed Match Challenge. Then he said he would go on to WrestleMania 34 and successfully defend the Intercontinental championship before Asuka grabbed the mic and said she would become women’s champion.
Cole and Graves thanked Phoenix for joining for the show.
That’s all she wrote.
End.
