A sign we shouldn’t rule out a Roman Reigns heel turn

WWE.com

Admittedly, I’m digging deep here. I trying to read the tea leaves before his Universal Title rematch at Greatest Royal Rumble, from a likely throw away interview Roman Reigns gave to WWE’s web team in Spain to promote house shows coming up there next month.

However... the rumor The Big Dog could lose to Brock Lesnar again on Friday in Saudi Arabia has me wondering how WWE will present a Reigns who’s once again failed to win the big one. And it has me coming back to that old chestnut, “he’d work better as a heel”.

And if you want to cement someone as a villain, booking the next year of Roman in accordance with the answer he gave espanol.wwe.com would be an effective way to do it.

“You’ve faced John Cena, Undertaker and Brock Lesnar. Who’s next?

It’s tough. The last few years have been a rollercoaster of emotions, a great opportunity, but I think I’d like to face Daniel Bryan again. I dont often see the stars of Smack Down but I know he’s been medically cleared and if his health holds up he could be a great contender next year at WrestleMania. Daniel Bryan vs. Roman Reigns. But if that doesn’t happen I’d like to face the rest of the Shield again, Seth and Dean, I think that would be really good, too.”

A Reigns who’s revolted against the fans who’ve rejected him for so long, embracing the notion he’s Vince McMahon chosen guy, plowing through his brothers in The Shield as they try to talk sense in to him, culminating in a battle against the ultimate “WWE doesn’t want this guy to succeed” underdog in New York/New Jersey next spring?

Book it.
