Indie and International standout Nixon Newell was signed by WWE last spring and slated to take part in the inaugural Mae Young Classic (MYC) in the summer of 2017. But an ACL tear took her out of the tournament field and put her on the shelf for the better part of a year.
She finally returned to action at NXT’s Venice, Florida house show last night (April 13), working under her real name (Steffanie Newell) and teaming with Dakota Kai - while wearing matching ring gear. The Kiwi and the Welshwoman came up short in their match against Reina Gonzalez and Vanessa Borne, but at least they looked good:

In addition to this new partnership with Kai, Newell has worked with and against the likes of MYC winner Kairi Sane and NXT Women’s Champ Shayna Bazler in Japan, and taken part in plenty of intergender tag action with names on the WWE roster like Pete Dunne and Mark Andrews back in the United Kingdom. So whether it be on NXT, the upcoming second annual women’s tournament show or a future season of Mixed Match Challenge, expect to see lots of this 23 year old on WWE Network in the not too distant future.
