Two matches already official for WWE Backlash 2018

Two matches were set up on Monday Night Raw this week and have since been made official for the upcoming Backlash pay-per-view (PPV) scheduled for Sun., May. 6, 2018, at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey: Roman Reigns vs. Samoa Joe and Seth Rollins defending the Intercontinental championship against The Miz.

What makes this interesting is they booked these matches despite the upcoming Greatest Royal Rumble event on April 27 in Saudi Arabia.

On that show, Reigns will challenge Brock Lesnar for the Universal championship while Joe will be involved in the Intercontinental title ladder match that also includes Rollins, Miz, and Finn Balor.

It’s possible, then, Universal Champion Reigns will wrestle Intercontinental Champion Joe in the main event of Backlash.

Or, they’re simply going ahead with the original plans and these matches are just short of spoilers. Hey, Saudi Arabia is still getting a great show, right?
