WrestleMania 34 match card, rumors

The next pay-per-view (PPV) on the WWE schedule is the one and only WrestleMania 34 event set to take place on Sun., April 8, 2018, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana, the company's annual "Showcase of the Immortals". It's the biggest pro wrestling event of the year.

We're just one week away from showtime and all but one match is official:

  • Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns (Universal championship)

This feud has been built around Lesnar simply not caring enough to even show up to work and Reigns getting increasingly pissed off about that, to the point he got himself suspended for confronting Vince McMahon over it. He came back before he was reinstated and was arrested and then savagely beaten for it. This entire feud has been about Reigns being made lesser in the hopes he’ll be cheered for it.

  • AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura (WWE championship)

Nakamura won the Royal Rumble and then Styles successfully navigated a Six-Pack Challenge at Fastlane to make this official. It’s something of a dream match, considering what they did at the Tokyo Dome a couple years ago. A Styles injury got fans worried about the match but he appears fine and all is proceeding along as planned.

  • Ronda Rousey & Kurt Angle vs. Stephanie McMahon & Triple H

Rousey’s first ever pro wrestling match will be a mixed tag, so she won’t have to do all the heavy lifting. The story has been the usual WWE bit, with the evil overlords trying to hold down the big star. She’s held up reasonably well so far.

  • Daniel Bryan & Shane McMahon vs. Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn

Shane McMahon stepped down indefinitely as Commissioner of SmackDown Live only to be assaulted and sent to the hospital by Owens and Zayn. Bryan responded by firing the best friends, and so they beat the hell out of him and sent him out on a stretcher too. Owens and Zayn will get their jobs back if they win this match. Bryan is medically cleared to compete, but Shane McMahon’s status is up in the air after a recent bout of diverticulitis.

  • Charlotte vs. Asuka (SmackDown women’s championship)

It took her a number of weeks to choose who she would challenge after winning the first ever women’s Royal Rumble match, but Asuka eventually settled on Charlotte. Flair missed SmackDown last week after oral surgery but she’s good to return this week.

  • Alexa Bliss vs. Nia Jax (Raw women’s championship)

Good friends, better enemies. Alexa revealed she was using Nia all along but she didn’t realize Nia could hear all of it and now Jax is out for revenge. And the title, of course.

  • The Miz vs. Finn Balor vs. Seth Rollins (Intercontinental championship)

They all just sort of started fighting with each other — Miz and Balor notably did plenty of social media bickering leading up to this — and now they’ll wrestle for the title. Miz is making it interesting with his usual worked shoot promo style. No word on if Balor will wrestle as “Demon” Balor but one can assume as much considering the stage.

  • Randy Orton vs. Bobby Roode vs. Jinder Mahal vs. Rusev (U.S. championship)

Orton won the title from Roode at Fastlane but Mahal has been lurking around enough — and beat Orton — so he’s in. Then on SmackDown last week, Rusev scored a pin on Orton in a tag team match and was also added.

  • The Usos vs. New Day vs. Bludgeon Brothers (SmackDown tag team championship)

Harper and Rowan annihilated both the Usos and New Day at Fastlane, and now we have a three way feud on our hands.

  • Cesaro & Sheamus vs. Braun Strowman & Mystery Partner (Raw tag team championship)

Strowman singlehandedly won a battle royal to earn a tag team title shot but Raw General Manager Kurt Angle decided he has to find a partner for the match. He has yet to do so. It looks like they’re going to keep it a surprise all the way up until the match itself.

  • Cruiserweight Championship Tournament Final

Cedric Alexander and Mustafa Ali worked their way through the tournament to get here. They’re selling it as “The Heart vs. The Soul” of 205 Live.

  • WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal

Here’s who is in so far: Sasha Banks, Natalya, Becky Lynch, Naomi, Ruby Riott, Sarah Logan, Liv Morgan, Bayley, Lana

  • Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal

Here’s who is in so far: Dash Wilder, Scott Dawson, Baron Corbin, Mojo Rawley, Tye Dillinger, Dolph Ziggler, Tyler Breeze, Fandango, Woken Matt Hardy

That’s everything that is official so far. All that’s left is for Undertaker to accept John Cena’s challenge, which is expected to happen on Monday Night Raw this week.
