Hillbilly Jim may have been hoping for Hulk Hogan to induct him into the WWE Hall of Fame when he goes in with the class of 2018 next week in New Orleans but that’s not going to happen. WWE officially announced today that, instead, Jimmy Hart will do the honors.
Here’s how WWE.com is telling it:
Hillbilly Jim often found himself standing across the ring from nefarious Superstars managed by Jimmy Hart, but in the years since their heyday, the relationship between the two men changed. Their new dynamic will be on display when Hart inducts Hillbilly Jim into the WWE Hall of Fame during the 2018 Induction Ceremony, streaming live on WWE Network Friday, April 6, at 8 ET/5 PT.
The idea is that while Jim was Hogan’s protege, he wrestled a lot of guys managed by Hart. “The Mouth of the South” is also a good talker, so why not let him tell a story or two before bringing out an old friend?
We’ll have coverage of the ceremony next week.
