NXT results, live blog (Mar. 28, 2018): Dusty Rhodes Classic semi-finals

Here's a place to check results and comment along with the latest airing of WWE NXT in its regular Wednesday night at 8PM Eastern time slot on WWE Network.

Check out our Wednesday morning preview post to get caught up on what's been happening, and what we expect this week.

We'll post match results here, and we will also have our regular reactions post later. In the meantime, and most importantly, this gives you Cagesiders a dedicated place to rave and/or bitch about whatever happens on WWE’s third brand - during its initial broadcast!

NOTE: Spoilers are out there for these pre-taped broadcasts (including here), but many Cagesiders don't partake. If you are going to post or discuss spoilers for this show before they happen, or results of future shows, please use the spoiler bar in your comment.

Enjoy the show!

- Tommaso Ciampa pulls up in front of Full Sail, abandoning his car (Good Lord! It’s a Ford!) and confronting General Manager William Regal about Johnny Gargano. Regal makes an Unsanctioned match between the former #DIY partners for New Orleans. If Johnny wins, he gets his job back. If Ciampa wins, Gargano is gone forever.

- After the intro, Regal enters Full Sail to speak. He announces that as NXT is growing, it’s imperative they find ways to recognize top talents in all regions around the world. So at TakeOver, they’ll crown the first ever North American Champion! The GM says this will bring new talents to our attention the way the United Kingdom Championship brought Trent Seven, Tyler Bate, Mark Andrews, Wolfgang and Pete Dunne to our screens. Regal is cut off by...

- EC3 is here! Along with a new “1%” theme song. He’s excited to be here, and the fans agree. EC3 puts over Regal’s generosity, giving him a big contract, and a banging theme song, but he didn’t expect to get a brand new title representing the best region in the world - North America. The GM cuts him off to announce that no one is handed anything here. He’s excited to have EC3 here as a competitor, but in New Orleans, EC3 will compete against five other men with the new belt above the ring in a ladder match! EC3 chants along with the fans thanking Regal, and then says he’ll beat 5 men, 10 men or 15 men.

- We take a peak outside where we’re waiting for Andrade “Cien” Almas to arrive as we’re reminded that Aleister Black will be here tonight. Then it’s to Charly Caruso in the Dusty Classic control center. She catches us up on last week’s final two first round matches and hypes the semis tonight.

- Earlier today, TM61 are interviewed at the Performance Center about their loss to AoP in the Dusty. They say Akam and Rezar are the hurdle they can’t get over, but they’re changing their attitude, because they are the mighty, and the might don’t kneel. Behind them, Shayna Baszler has been jawing at Serena Deeb. The interviewer and cameraperson race into the gym as Ember Moon confronts Baszler, shoving her and kicking off a brawl. Numerous wrestlers and officials pull them apart.

- Cien and Zelina Vega are shown walking from the parking lot to the building as we’re again reminded about the #1 contender’s scheduled appearance.

- Authors of Pain def. Street Profits via pinfall following Last Chapter on Angelo Dawkins to advance to the finals the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic

Akam and Rezar over power Angelo Dawkins at the outset, but he connects with a drop kick, then hits a running uppercut and a lariat to put down both Authors! Montez Ford celebrates, and dances up to Paul Ellering. Ford decides to offer the Hall of Famer a sip from his Solo cup, and Ellering teases taking it then knocks it from Montez’s hand. Ford backs the manager up the ramp, which draws Dawkins over for a look and lets AoP get the jump on him and end things quickly.

- Charly recaps that from the control center, and Cathy Kelley catches up with Mr. Regal outside his office. She asks who else will be in the battle for the North American title, and he says he just finalized plans to put Adam Cole in the ladder match. Velveteen Dream walks up and says the GM looks well (Regal says “I know”). He says TakeOver needs the Experience, and Regal agrees, based on how impressive Dream has been since his debut. Velveteen says ground was broken when the North American title was announced, not that he’s in the match, the stage has been set.

- We’re still waiting for Aleister Black, but it’s time for our next match...

- Lars Sullivan vs. John Silver via pinfall following Freak Accident

Total domination. Military press-into-a-powerslam, diving headbutt, finish.

- Kelley catches up with Mr. Regal to inquire about more names for the ladder match. Sullivan walks up, and the GM welcomes him back and offers him a spot in the N.A. title fight. Lars accepts, and vows to unequivocably inflict punishment with his hands and a ladder. He also wants Killian Dain, though. Regal says Dain is in the ladder match, too, but Sullivan will also get a shot at the SAntiY memeber next week.

- Dakota Kai enters the ring for a match, but Mauro Ranallo kicks it outside, where Almas is destroying Black! The champ is pummeling him against a car while Vega cheers him on screaming “THAT’S WHAT YOU GET!” Cien dunks him into a cooler of water, bounces him through the back and throws him through the doors into the arena. Aleister is thrown into the ring, and Andrade follows with a chair, laying in a couple shots will yelling “YO SOY CAMPEÓN”. The challenger struggles his way to his feet while the crowd cheers for him.

- Roderick Strong and UK Champ Pete Dunne def. SAnitY (Alexander Wolfe and Eric Young) via pinfall with a tandem Bitter End on EY to advance to the finals of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic

Wolfe and Strong start off, and Roddy controls with grappling until Alexander powers him down with a slam. All four men enter for a standoff, and Drake Weurtz forces them to their corners. Young and Dunne take each other down, prompting another fourway standoff. Wolfe tags himself in off a whip of his partner, then hits a big boot while EY has the Bruiserweight in an abdominal stretch as we go to commercial.

Wolfe with a backbreaker that Young follows with a forearm off the top. Dunne lands a forearm of his own to create separation and get a tag, Roddy and his partner lay in chops then hit some tandem offense of their own with a backbreaker by Strong and a stomp from the UK champ. Dunne stays in and works over EY, targeting his left arm. Young reverses a kimura into a delayed vertical suplex, and both men get a tag. Roddy and Wolfe trade a flurry of shots. Suplex and DVD get two on Strong, then a tag. Young with a neckbreaker, but Dunne breaks up the cover. Wolfe tries something off the top but jumps into a punch from the Bruiserweight. EY runs in with a neckbreaker on Dunne, who rolls out. Strong tries to set him up for a superplex, but Young fights him off and hits an elbow drop for a close nearfall. Chaos for a bit, then Roddy hits End of Heartache to take out Wolfe. They have EY isolated and hit him with some tag team offense to advance.

- Kelley knocks on Regal’s door to ask about the last man in the ladder match. He tells her she’s in luck, he’s just finalized that. He gets the last entrant, and it’s Ricochet! He tells Cathy he’ll she her at TakeOver.
