Mixed Match Challenge Week 9
Geno here. Let us do this.
Charlotte is very clearly crushing on Bob real hard, dancing to his “Glorious” entrance bit and cheesing the whole way. “I have never seen her light up like she does when Bobby Roode is around,” Corey Graves remarks. Beth Phoenix rebukes him, saying maybe she just sees a great partner.
Lana and Rusev aren’t wearing matching gear this week. This can’t be a good sign.
Rusev spent their entrance pumping Lana up, telling her she’s a monster who breaks boards and is now going to break Charlotte. “You are not a chicken. We eat chickens, we are not chickens,” he told her.
He tried to get the Lana song going but no one in the audience would go for it. Charlotte and Bob countered with the “wooooo.” Rusev pushed Roode and Charlotte did NOT like that, pushing him back herself. Lana pushed her and threw a punch that Flair ducked, so she hit Roode.
Both teams went at it until the married couple ducked out of the ring. This was all before the bell rang.
They took the short break to ring it and officially get the match underway.
Lana and Charlotte got things going and, surprisingly, Lana got the edge and was holding up well against the SmackDown women’s champion. Beth remarked that it must be the training while Cole straight out said “this is the best she’s ever looked in the ring.”
She hit her facebuster finish but only got a two count on it.
Rusev was shouting encouragement while she was chopping Charlotte. She decided to take her eyes off the prize and mock Roode, giving Flair a chance to recover and tag out.
The men got in and picked up the pace a bit. Shinsuke Nakamura was in the comments posting cat emojis. Rusev took control again and they got the heat on until switching back to the women. Charlotte went for the Figure Eight but Rusev dragged Lana out. Charlotte responded by smacking him in the face.
Lana tried to roll her up but she kicked out. So she tagged Rusev in but Roode was still down on the outside. Rusev just smiled in the ring. Charlotte decided to chop him while the referee protested. Rusev responded by smiling at her. He even laughed, pointing at her hand and saying “is it hurting? It’s not hurting me! Is it hurting you?”
She smiled right back because this gave Roode time to recover, sneak up from behind, and hit Rusev with the Glorious DDT to score the pin and the victory for the Robe Warriors.
