According to PWInsider, Jeff Hardy was arrested in Concord, North Carolina on Saturday night (Mar. 10) for driving while impaired. The site’s report is based on information from the Cabarrus County Sherriff’s Office, who says Hardy was arrested at 10:20PM and released at 11:24PM. His driver’s license was revoked for 30 days, prior to trial. He is supposed to appear in Cabarrus County Court on April 16.
An accident report on the Concord Police Department’s web site from shortly before the arrest is posted describes the inciting incident:
An Instagram video posted by Jeff on Saturday also shows someone filming a cell phone video playing on the driver’s side dashboard of a vehicle moving down a multi-lane highway:
Hardy’s wrestling career has been on hold since September of 2017, when he underwent surgery for a torn labrum and rotator cuff. Word was he was getting ready to start working out for a return to the WWE ring at their Orlando Performance Center soon. There was also speculation he may have been a part of the filming of “Ultimate Deletion”, a production for the Matt Hardy/Bray Wyatt feud which occured at Jeff’s brother’s property in Cameron, North Carolina last Friday.
There’s been no statement from WWE as of yet. Earlier this year, Jey Uso was arrested for driving while intoxicated and didn’t miss any time with the company. However, Jeff has a history of substance abuse which includes two Wellness Policy violations during 2006 - 2009 runs with the company, and an infamous on-camera incident in TNA where he appeared to be intoxicated when he showed up for match against Sting in the main event of the Victory Road 2011 pay-per-view (PPV).
Hardy hasn’t had anything similar happen in quite some time, and is believed to have a clean record under WWE’s Wellness Program since he and Matt returned to the company in March of 2017.
UPDATE: More information on the arrest, a statement from WWE and a comment from Matt can be found here.
