Mixed Match Challenge Week 7
Tommy here. Let’s Facebook Watch this.
Michael Cole is really happy to be here. Cory Graves and WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix are also on the call.
The team of Miz and Asuka show some cracks in their backstage promo when the IC title holder says it’s “our streak”. Asuka does not approve.
Finn Balor and Sasha Banks vs. The Miz and Asuka
The match begins with Miz and Balor in the ring. Miz attempts to calm the Los Angeles crowd’s cheers by attempting his “my hand goes up” gimmick. Balor tries to role up Miz when he still has a mic in his hand. The crowd wants Asuka to get tagged in but The Miz tells everyone to wait.
Early on in the match Cole brings up the fact that if Asuka loses tonight her streak is over.
Asuka and Miz continue to argue about who should be in the ring. Balor in control of the early portion of the match. As the IC champ retreats to the corner, Asuka tags herself in. Banks and Asuka trade strikes in the middle of the ring before the winner of the women’s 2018 Royal Rumble takes control.
Asuka looks for the Asuka Lock but instead gets rammed into the corner. Banks’ aggression takes over as she works over her opponent with knees and a nice snap suplex. Both women go down and they crawl towards their corner for a tag.
Balor gets the hot tag and lays into Miz. Balor gets a close two count but Asuka is in for the save. Off a roll through pin attempt, Miz reverses it into a Skull Crushing Finale. Miz goes for the cover but its broken up by Banks.
Graves and Cole now both emphasizing if Asuka loses tonight her streak is done.
Chaos breaks out in the ring as a Coup de Grace and a Banks Statement are hit but no one can get a cover. With Banks distracted, The Boss gets put in the Asuka Lock. While his teammate is very close to tapping out Balor has The Miz locked in a submission of his own.
With one eye still stuck on Banks, The Miz rolls Balor’s shoulders on the mat for a quick three count.
Post-match Finn Balor and Sasha Banks are distraught in the ring while Asuka and The Miz rush out of the ring then celebrate (dance?) on top of the entrance ramp.
Next week the Mixed Match Challenge a semifinal bout will feature Jimmy Uso and Naomi versus Alexa Bliss and Braun Strowman. Dubbed Team Little Big Penitentiary, Strowman says their opponents will “get these hands” then he smiles at Bliss. Awwwwww.
Team Glowish retorts with promises to snatch Strowman’s beard bald.
The show ends with Miz and Asuka celebrating on good terms and Graves promising to steal the “D” off the famous Hollywood sign.
End.
