Here's a place to check results and comment along with the latest airing of WWE 205 Live as it airs on WWE Network.

New General Manager DRAKE MAVERICK’s Cruiserweight championship tournament has a bracket (see it here), and Feb. 27’s show from Los Angeles will kick off second round action on our way to a title match at WrestleMania 34 on April 8!

Tonight’s matches look to continue the purple brand’s run of great in-ring action since MAVERICK took the reins on-screen (and Triple H reportedly got them backstage. In one quarterfinal - after defeating his #LuchaHouseParty brother Lince Dorado, Kalisto is set to battle Roderick Strong, who shocked fans by taking out fellow NXT alum Hideo Itami in round one. In the other, Cedric Alexander tries to follow-up on his win over Gran Metalik when he battles the first champ, TJP - who got here by beating the first UK champ, Tyler Bate.

We'll post match results and plot developments here. And this gives you Cagesiders a dedicated place to rave and/or bitch about whatever goes down on the WWE’s cruiserweight showcase - while it’s being broadcast!

Enjoy the show!

- A recap of last week which also previews tonight’s two matches leads to the opening video, and then Vic Joseph and Nigel McGuinness welcome us to Staples Center with a look at the bracket.

- Selfie promo from Cedric Alexander claiming TJP can’t get into his head and saying he won’t get in the way of his ‘Mania moment. Dasha Fuentes interviews TJP. He thinks it’s ridiculous the first ever champ has to compete in this tournament at all, but since that’s the way it is, he’s going to walk through Cedric tonight on the way to WrestleMania.

- Cedric Alexander def. TJP via pinfall following Lumbar Check to advance to the semi-finals of the Cruiserweight Championship Tournament to face the winner of the Kalisto/Roderick Strong

SoCal crowd is with Perkins as the battle for control in the middle of the ring to start.

Cedric eventually sends TJ to the floor with a dropkick, but takes too long setting up a suicide dive and gets trapped in an arm bar. Alexander reaches the ropes to break the first of several innovative submissions. TJP maintains control for several minutes, working holds and going for covers through comeback attempts.

Perkins keeps his boot on Ced’s neck on the ropes until the ref forces a break, and then counters a suplex into a lateral press. Alexander on fire, getting a nearfall off a Neuralyzer and a springboard flatliner. Lumbar Check is blocked and TJP gets a gutbuster for two. A Detonation Kick is blocked by Cedric, but a follow-up dropkick by Perkins to knee. Alexander rallies and follows up when TJ misses a kick on the apron with a plancha, but he lands on his bad knee. Back in, both men are exhausted as they slug it out mid-ring. Ced rolls through on a knee bar, and Perkins grabs the tights but can still only get two. They both go down after clotheslines, and then another knee bar leads to some desperate moments for Alexander. He reaches the ropes and eventually gets a break after a five count.

They trade kicks in the middle of the ring. TJP looks to have the advantage and makes to life Cedric for his finisher, but Alexander reverses to hit his own.

- Promo from Mustafa Ali saying he proved he could withstand brutality when he survived and beat Jack Gallagher last week. His opponent next week, Buddy Murphy, is a “bad dude”, but he won’t break Ali.

- Murphy is interviewed leaving the building. Ali proved he was tough last week, but he hasn’t faced anyone like Buddy. The Aussie respects him, but he’s waited for this for a long time, and he will hurt Mustafa to get his ‘Mania dream.

- Roderick Strong def. Kalisto via pinfall following End of Heartache to advance to the semi-finals of the Cruiserweight Championship Tournament to face Cedric Alexander

Fast pace from the bell. After taking a backbreaker, Kalisto gets his boot up after an Irish whip and head scissors Roddy to the outside. After a baseball slide, he tightropes the barricade. After Strong blocks on rana, Kalisto hits another to send Roddy into the barricade.

Strong answers by throwing the luchador onto the announce table to take control.

Another backbreaker and a gutbuster get two from Roddy as he taunts the former champ. A Kalisto comeback ends with a HUGE drop kick that gets another nearfall. Roddy stretches his opponent, but Kalisto drags him over and answers forearms by rana-ing Strong face first into the mat. A flurry of offense leads to a spike rana for a two count for Kalisto.

Salida Del Sol goes wrong for Kalisto when Strong drops him on the top rope. Olympic Slam gets two.

Back and forth, Roddy goes for a Gibson Driver, but that gets countered into a Code Red for another nearfall for Kalisto. They battle on the ropes in the corner, eventually leading to Kalisto countering a powerslam mid-air and a painful landing for both men. They duke it out, and Roddy eventually hits a backbreaker he transitions right into his finish.

- Nigel and Vic remind us about next week’s two quarterfinals as the show ends.
