WWE Elimination Chamber 2018: Woken Matt Hardy vs. Bray Wyatt preview

The Weirdo vs. The Beardo

A WWE feud that began back in November may or may not conclude at the 2018 Elimination Chamber.

The story so far

The Raw after Thanksgiving featured Hardy turning from Boy(z) into a Woken man. Prior to his first match versus Wyatt, Hardy lost a brief feud to Elias and the mere thought of a prolonged losing streak may have played a part in pushing him over the edge.

Hardy lost his first match to Wyatt and afterwards he was left shivering in the corner with only the words ‘delete’ left to console him.

The build to Elimination Chamber

On the Dec. 4 edition of Monday Night Raw, Woken Hardy made his first threat to “DELETE” Wyatt. The two street corner prophets would trade video promos against one another for a couple of weeks and one time Hardy played chess versus a gold fish; it was wonderful.

The two men traded sneak attacks until they met for an official match at Raw 25. Wyatt again beat Hardy clean in the center of the ring and some thought the feud may be over. Hardy and Wyatt would cross paths again in the 2018 Royal Rumble, where the two sky talkers briefly teamed up before rolling over the top rope together and falling to the floor.

The go-home show

In lieu of one more in-ring stare down, Hardy and Wyatt dueled in a pair of video promos on the final Raw before the Elimination Chamber. They each called one another liars and Wyatt even had the nerve to say “Hardy’s words mean nothing, just empty promises from a deeply disturbed and twisted man”. Pot, I would like you to meet kettle.

Inside the WWE power structure, neither Woken Matt Hardy or Bray Wyatt can afford to lose this feud. The Woken One has just arrived on the Raw brand and he can’t jump out of the gates losing his first major rivalry. One year ago at the 2017 Elimination Chamber, The Eater of Worlds pinned John Cena and AJ Styles on his way to winning his first WWE Championship.

Can Wyatt fall any further down the WWE ladder? Will Hardy and his Woken persona pick his first major win this Sunday?
