WWE.com

Here's a place to check results and comment along with the latest airing of WWE 205 Live as it airs on WWE Network.

New General Manager DRAKE MAVERICK’s Cruiserweight championship tournament wraps up first round action, as four men compete to see who will join Cedric Alexander, TJP, Kalisto, Roderick Strong, Drew Gulak and Mark Andrews in round two.

One of those bouts features the final surprise entrant in the tourney, as former NXT tag champ Buddy Murphy makes his main roster debut to challenge Ariya Daivari. In the other, one week after inspiring Gulak to get aggressive, we’ll find out if Mr. MAVERICK’s motivational tactics worked on his countryman Jack Gallagher, as the Gentleman faces off with Mustafa Ali.

We'll post match results and plot developments here. And this gives you Cagesiders a dedicated place to rave and/or bitch about whatever goes down on the WWE’s cruiserweight showcase - while it’s being broadcast!

Enjoy the show!

- A recap of last week’s matches and preview of tonight’s, narrated by Voiceover Guy™

- Vic Joseph and Nigel McGuinness welcome us to Phoenix and remind us again that DRAKE MAVERICK told Jack Gallagher to change his clothes before his first round match, then it’s time for our first bout

- Ariya Daivari selfie promo mocking Buddy Murphy for thinking this is “Biggest Loser”, and vowing he won’t let the newcomer get in the way of WrestleMania plans; we then get another video of Murphy weighing in yesterday (at 200.9 lbs)

- Buddy Murphy def. Ariya Daivari via pinfall following a pumphandle Death Valley Driver to advance to the second round match of the Cruiserweight Title Tournament; it’s all Buddy at the start, but Daivari grabs a handful of hair to set-up dropping the Aussie on the apron to take control. Murphy jaw-jacks Ariya out of a rest hold. After a flurry, he takes too long setting something up from the top, but nails Daivari with a tope, then gets two off a double knee drop from the top. Ariya comes back to hit a frog splash and his hammerlock DDT, but neither can get three. The former NXT champ fires back and we get the finish.

- DRAKE MAVERICK reveals the tournament bracket, and tells us that in two weeks Murphy will face the winner of tonight’s other match, and Gulak will meet Andrews. TJP vs. Cedric Alexander and Kalisto vs. Roderick Strong are next week. TJ and Ced enter the frame, and Perkins says this is the point where Alexander fails. Cedric says TJP’s dirty tricks won’t help him now, and he won’t hesitate to put him in the bad place.

- Kalisto brings Lince Dorado and Gran Metalik (#LuchaHouseParty) to the ring, and tells Nigel and Vic to tell Roddy that “speed kills”

- Lince Dorado and Gran Metalik vs. Evan Daniels and ??? Negado??? via pinfall following a SSP from Dorado; fun if quick squash. The enhancement duo got in some offense, but not much, in this <4 min match.

- Selfie promo from Gulak, who says people tell him he went too far last week, but that’s just an excuse weak people make. He respects Mark Andrews, but he plans to ground him and tap him next week. Andrews answers with a promo that features him doing a standing flip while holding the camera. He says Drew can’t ground him, and he’ll fly through the “No Fly Zone” en route to ‘Mania.

- After we see Ali taping himself up, Gallagher enters in his new gear - green velvet long tights into calf-high socks and simple black wrestling boots

- Mustafa Ali def. Jack Gallagher via pinfall following an 0-5-4 to advance to the second round of the Cruiserweight Title Tournament; The Brit keeps things on the ground with chain wrestling and submissions at the start. The crowd comes alive for a serious of roll-through counters as the announcers explain what we’ve seen as Ali surviving in Gallagher’s world. Frustrated, Jack changes up and starts striking, but Mustafa catches him with an enziguri. He rolls out, and when Ali follows, Gallagher traps him in the ring skirt and bludgeons him until the referee calls for a break. Jack powers his opponent to the ground until he evades a head butt to the sternum by flipping over Gallagher in the corner and starts flying around to gain an advantage. When Ali tries to climb for an 0-5-4, Jack grabs a foot. The delay eventually lets the Gentleman snap the already wounded left arm off the top rope and throw Ali into the ring post shoulder first. He punishes the arm through a series of covers and submissions focused on the shoulder. Gaining separation, Ali goes for a spinning tope when Jack rolls out, but something weird happens and he hits the apron with his hip on the way down. The ref checks on him and the match proceeds, with Mustafa getting back in on 9. Gallagher focuses on the arm, including an armbar on the ropes which is set-up for a vicious drop kick from Jack that sends Ali flying from the post into the barricade! The Brit follows him out to hurl him into another barricade; he rolls Mustafa back in, but ALI WON’T QUIT! Jack goes for a superplex, but Mustafa somehow ends up on his feet! A kick to the back of Gallagher sets up the finish!
