Ahead of a one-on-one showdown with Nia Jax at the upcoming Elimination Chamber pay-per-view (PPV) on Sunday, Feb. 25 in Paradise, Nevada, Royal Rumble winner Asuka will address Jax live on the ‘go home’ episode of Raw.
WWE announcing that as a segment on the Feb. 19 episode from Phoenix also presumably means The Empress of Tomorrow will get some in-ring promo time. And that’s great, because handling a live microphone in front of a big crowd using her second language has been one of the things Asuka’s been working on throughout her WWE career. After getting some time after her big win in Philadelphia last month, this should be another opportunity to see how far she’s come. Just being given the spot could be a sign the company is confident in her ability to handle it.
Realistically, it’s probably going to be brief. The English portion, anyway. But if they follow their familiar blueprint for the undefeated Superstar, we should see one or two of the most entertaining things Asuka does:
Re: #2 - Nia got to take out Bayley and Sasha Banks to send her message last Monday. Asuka should get at least three people to destroy (side note: this is why WWE needs female enhancement talent).
We’ll see. But as long as she gets a chance to demonstrate her comfort with delivering a promo in English and scares us by screaming a threat or boast in Japanese, I’ll consider it a success.
