For whatever reason, we wrestling fans are really fascinated with Dolph Ziggler’s contract status with WWE.
Sure, we’re always interested in whether our favorite performers are coming or going at the biggest pro wrestling company in the world. And it’s just human nature to wonder what other people earn, I think - at least it a capitalist society.
Not trying to get into a socio-economic critique or anything... just trying to talk myself through my second or third “details of Dolph’s deal” post this week. Here goes.
Sports Illustrated says The Show-Off will make $1.5 million in each of the next two years on the contract he recently signed. They don’t have any details on how that’s broken up, if it’s guaranteed, whether he’s allowed to leave after his matches, etc.
This report does, however, make a point to contradict a previous one which did specify some of those details. SI says Ziggler was never planning on walking and re-signing with WWE was always the plan (despite his public comments which hinted he was at least weighing his options).
So now you know. Maybe.
