The closing moments of the Dec. 5 episode of NXT set up a steel cage rematch for Aleister Black & Johnny Gargano. And General Manager William Regal is on-board with that Tommaso Ciampa-suggested bout, but he’s not letting it distract from what Black confronted the NXT champion about in the first place:
.@WWEAleister will face @ProjectCiampa at #NXTTakeOver Phoenix for the #NXTChampionship! And to square things away, @JohnnyGargano and @WWEAleister will get their matters settled in a #SteelCage Match in two weeks!
— William Regal (@RealKingRegal) December 6, 2018
Interference from Gargano - which was intended to cost Ciampa the match - led to Tommaso beating Aleister for the title back in July. Scheduled to get his rematch as part of a Triple Threat in Brooklyn, an attack by Johnny took Black out of the picture for three months.
Now he’s back, and he’s looking to absolve everybody of their sins - and get his title back. The quest starts with a steel cage match on Dec. 19.
Black vs. Ciampa is the only match officially announced for Jan. 26’s TakeOver: Phoenix card, but one other match has been booked. You can find that here, if you don’t mind spoilers.
Excited for the course NXT laid for their main event scene tonight?
