For a few moments this really felt like Apollo Crews’ night.
Last week on SmackDown, WWE crowned a new United States champion on Christmas Day, so why not have the Intercontinental title swapped on New Year’s Eve?
After winning what was dubbed the ‘Fresh Start Battle Royal’ (we really sticking with that?_) by Shane McMahon, Crews got a title shot versus Dean Ambrose later in the night.

Crews had a few great moments during his title match with Ambrose but was never able to get over the hump.
Sure Apollo didn’t win the title tonight (Dec. 31) but he did do this:

Amazing.
In a match that was better than expected, Crews would try one high risk move too many and Ambrose would catch him with a Dirty Deeds for the pin.
Is WWE setting up Apollo Crews for a future Intercontinental title feud or was this just a one-off with Dean Ambrose?
