Here are some interesting words from WWE Hall of Famer Edge on EC3 from E&C’s Pod of Awesomeness (via Wrestling Inc):
“I think EC3 reminds me of Cena as well, and Elias. And I think if you were to put Cena on the NXT roster starting out, I don’t know how great it would’ve gone, but you put him on the main roster and you see what happened. I think that’s very similar with EC3, and his skillset, and where he’s at. And I think, not that he didn’t do great in NXT, I just don’t think it’s the best place for a guy like him. I think he’s really kind of going to flourish coming to one of those two shows.”
EC3 is one of the wrestlers WWE has announced will be moving up to the main roster in 2019, whenever that may be, and most pundits agree he probably never should have been down in NXT. He was always main roster ready, and bouncing him around in smallest promotion never made much sense.
That said, the comparison to Cena is one hell of a compliment. He’s just needed the chance to prove it, and now he’s got it. If nothing else, it will be fun to see if he can live up to these words.
Stay tuned.
