Earlier this week, NXT’s Matt Riddle was added to the card for one of WWE’s biggest house shows of the year - their post-Christmas Madison Square Garden show. The King of Bros will be replacing Johnny Gargano on the babyface side of a black-and-yellow brand “Mega Tag Team Match”, because regardless of what Johnny Wrestling thinks, he’s not a face right now.
Riddle is hyped to be joining Aleister Black, Ricochet & Velveteen Dream for their match against Undisputed ERA & Tommaso Ciampa on Weds., Dec. 26...
Wow I just can’t stop ! If you haven’t heard my year isn’t over and I get to wrestle in the Legendary MSG in NYC on the RAW brand, which makes this my biggest DeButt of 2018 and it’s gonna be the DeButts of all DeButts! #bro #stallion #wwe #raw #wwenxt #wwenetwork #debutts pic.twitter.com/mBVtHdolDQ

He’s also thinking a little bit further down the road, to Royal Rumble weekend in late January. Riddle doesn’t even have a match on the TakeOver: Phoenix card yet, but he didn’t have one for WarGames 2 in Los Angeles, either, and he still kicked off the show by knocking out Kassius Ohno. He’s planning to be in town, though, so he told Edge & Christian on the latest E & C’s Pod of Awesomeness he’s thinking about what might happen during a certain battle royal at Chase Field:
“I’m really hoping in this new year because I know TakeOver is the same weekend as the Royal Rumble and I’ll be honest, I’m a big rumble guy. You never know, there might be a spot open, maybe I get in there, maybe I make some history. Right? Who knows? I’m aiming for the stars. The star stallion, the stallion star. Dude, it needs to happen. Yeah, it should happen. It should happen.”
Those are solid goals, but they might not be the most impressive feat Bro pulled off this week. The latest episode of the “Arrival” series hit the WWE PC YouTube channel this week, and it’s the usual well put together piece of business - a great way for people unfamiliar with the former MMA fighter, and for everyone to form a connection to his NXT journey. This week even features his original tryout promo video!
Riddle also managed to get several shots of him wearing this shirt into an official WWE production though.

What a legend.
