Sami Zayn was a guest on the latest episode of Talk is Jericho and they kick off the discussion with Zayn making clear right away that he’s been having a blast with all the time he’s spent away from pro wrestling:
”I know wrestling fans maybe don’t want to hear this but I’ve been loving being off. I think maybe wrestling fans want to hear like, ‘I can’t wait to get back, and I miss everything.’ I don’t miss anything. I’m just like... not trying to sound like... I don’t miss it yet! Dude, I’m like a little, uh, not concerned but I’m surprised by how little I’ve missed it. That’s weird, huh? (It’s been) four months? June 19? Five months and I don’t miss it? What’s up with that? I don’t know.”
Not long after, however, he clarifies his stance a bit:
”Maybe I’m overstating my lack of desire to return. I do miss performing. But, like you said, I’ve been doing this a super long time, we’re on the road a lot. ... So, I don’t know, I just know that when I’ll be back I’ll really enjoy it but I’m not sitting there itching and clawing. I don’t know if my employer will want to hear that, like ‘does this guy not care?’
Jericho mentions that he’s not even cleared yet and Zayn throws this out there:
”No, I’m not even close. I need a few more months.”
That, of course, could be a setup for a swerve, and he could return much sooner than that. Indeed, WWE is already running videos hyping his return on Monday Night Raw. Either way, it’s interesting to hear him come right out and say that he doesn’t miss WWE despite being away for many months.
