WWE TLC 2018 match card, rumors

The next pay-per-view (PPV) on the WWE schedule is the TLC event set to take place on Sun., Dec. 16, 2018, at the SAP Center in San Jose, California. This is the company’s annual showcase playing off the popular Tables, Ladders, and Chairs gimmick match that took the pro wrestling world by storm in the early 2000s.

We’re two weeks out from showtime and the card looks like this:

  • Ronda Rousey (c) vs. Nia Jax (Raw women’s championship)

Jax won a battle royal at Evolution, earning a title shot in the process. This is where she gets it.

  • Becky Lynch (c) vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Asuka (SmackDown women’s championship)

This was going to be a singles match until the women of SmackDown Live campaigned and were booked in a battle royal, with the winner earning entry. Asuka won by last eliminating Sonya Deville. This will also be a TLC match.

  • Seth Rollins (c) vs. Dean Ambrose (Intercontinental championship)

Ambrose turned on Rollins the same night Roman Reigns announced he was leaving to fight cancer. They lost the Raw tag team titles shortly after and are now embroiled in a blood feud.

  • Daniel Bryan (c) vs. AJ Styles (WWE championship)

Bryan won the title by turning heel and kicking Styles in the nuts. This is the rematch. There hasn’t been much story surrounding it.

  • The Bar (c) vs. The Usos vs. The New Day (SmackDown tag team championship)

Both The Usos and The New Day have scored non-title wins over The Bar in recent weeks, so they both get a shot at the titles here.

  • Braun Strowman vs. Baron Corbin (TLC match)

There are a lot of stipulations at play here, and that’s assuming the match happens at all considering Strowman has elbow surgery scheduled for this week. If Corbin wins, he’ll be Raw General Manager on a full time basis. If he loses, he’s out. If Strowman wins, he’ll get a Universal title shot against Brock Lesnar at Royal Rumble.

  • Finn Balor vs. Drew McIntyre

This was announced just days ago, and continues a program they’ve been working on television.

  • Elias vs. Bobby Lashley

This was also announced just days ago, and also continues a program they’ve been working on television.

This is where the Mixed Match Challenge 2 final will take place, where the winners earn entry number 30 in their respective Royal Rumble matches.
