The new Daniel Bryan is the most interesting version of Bryan we’ve seen in many years, and it just so happens to be a character that will allow him to have the kind of matches he’s been wanting under the WWE banner. He made magic with Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series and he got the chance to do the same with AJ Styles tonight (Sun., Dec. 16, 2018) at the TLC pay-per-view (PPV) at the SAP Center in San Jose, California.

The story they told was Styles getting a measure of revenge on Bryan for his recent attacks and the way he’s gone about them. He also threw the kitchen sink at the champ in an effort to win his title back, but Bryan simply wouldn’t give it up. He seemed to have a counter for everything, and that was how the finish played out.
After avoiding a Phenomenal Forearm and setting up a running knee that Styles avoided, he countered an inside cradle to roll over and score the pinfall victory to retain the WWE championship.
For the first time in a long time, AJ Styles appears to be out of the WWE title picture.
