John Cena apologizes to fans, says he’s not working TV events when he returns to WWE

WWE.com

John Cena just threw WWE curve ball and they didn’t even see it.

For the past few weeks, reports have been all over the place about the upcoming schedule for Cena during his triumphant return to a WWE ring. We already knew Cena would work WWE’s big New York City show at Madison Square Garden on Dec. 26.

When the rest of Cena’s schedule was released, it included two episodes of Raw and one episode of SmackDown.

In a new interview with the Toronto Sun, Cena clarifies the rumors about his WWE return and what dates he may actually be working.

“I do apologize for being away for so long, but I have these wonderful opportunities to try and be a part of another storytelling universe that I truly enjoy. I was given the choice of taking one month to catch my breath and live what I would call a normal life. It took me about two seconds to turn that down. On December 26th, I return to Madison Square Garden and do a nice live event run with the WWE right up through the middle of January.”

Cena continued.

“None of these shows are televised. I’m literally just doing it because I want to get back to a place I feel most comfortable and to working with people I can call my family. And I want to have some fun.”

The interview would also go on to state that Cena begins shooting his next film project on Sun., Jan. 20, 2019 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The late Jan. start date for Cena’s movie would come six days after his last scheduled appearance with WWE and exactly one week before the 2019 Royal Rumble takes place in Phoenix, Arizona.

It was just a few days ago when Cena himself explained how it is almost impossible to wrestle while at the same time filming a feature length movie.

Surprise Royal Rumble appearance? Skipping the road to WrestleMania? How much of John Cena are WWE fans really going to see in 2019?
