Report: WWE recently approached three different NJPW stars

Always be closing. The WWE’s never ending quest to bring in some of the top pro wrestling talent across the globe may be inching closer to adding some more names to the list.

While the WWE looks to restock or retool their NXT or main roster locker rooms, a new report suggests that in this case they may also be dealing a blow to New Japan Pro Wrestling.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription required and encouraged), Dave Meltzer reports on the WWE making some overtures towards some of NJPW’s Japanese talent.

“Naito would be one of the three (at least) Japanese top guys feelers have been sent to.

The other two that we’re aware of didn’t turn the offers down without thought although one would be a huge surprise and the other would be a great worker who I didn’t see flourishing in the WWE system, but also probably wouldn’t have any reservations about moving to the U.S. like many of the Japanese might.”

This confirms a rumor from earlier in the week pointing to former IWGP Intercontinental Champion Naito turning down an offer from the WWE earlier in the year.

KUSHIDA? Hiromu Takahashi? SANADA? Any guesses on the other two names the WWE may be looking to sign and bring over from New Japan?
