Dana White: No timeline for Brock Lesnar vs. Daniel Cormier fight

Daniel Cormier made easy work of Derrick Lewis in defense of his UFC heavyweight championship in the main event of UFC 230, paving the way for a future defense against Brock Lesnar. If it wasn’t clear that’s what he wants, he called the current WWE Universal champion out in his post-fight interview.

If “DC” has his way, it will be his retirement fight. He’s mentioned previously that he hopes to retire by his 40th birthday, which he will celebrate on Mar. 20, 2019.

When asked if it’s a lock that Cormier vs. Lesnar is happening, and is next, and when it may be, UFC President Dana White had this to say to ESPN:

”Should be. I mean, you don’t know what happens. You know, I can’t predict anything but yeah. I have not talked to Brock tonight but I haven’t looked at my phone either. ... Brock and I haven’t talked in a little while. You know, he was doing his WWE stuff and we’ll see. There’s no timeline.”

Lesnar will have to serve out the remainder of a suspension that runs out in January. March might be the earliest they could put this together, which would be smack dab in the thick of WrestleMania season for WWE, where he is Universal champion, though he could lose the title before that time.

Either way, we’re getting closer and closer to this fight actually happening.
