John Cena returning to WWE for holiday house show swing

WWE.com

John Cena keeps telling us he’ll never completely leave WWE, and even though his appearances seem to be getting fewer and farther between, he’s sticking to his word.

According to PWInsider, Cena will work four house show dates next month, in between Christmas and New Year’s Eve. He’s not listed on WWE.com’s events pages for these shows, or advertising from the venues, but Insider says they’ve confirmed with the company he will be wrestling at each. These are shortly after the Dec. 21 premiere of Bumblebee, the Transformers spin-off in which Cena has what looks like a major role as “Agent Burns”, which will likely put him back in the United States and done with the pre-release press tour.

Here are the dates, locales and brands:

Weds., Dec. 26 - New York City, Madison Square Garden (Raw)
Thurs., Dec. 27 - Long Island, NY, NYCB Live (SmackDown)
Fri., Dec. 28 - Baltimore, Royal Farms Arena (SmackDown)
Sun., Dec. 30 - Tampa, Amalie Arena (SmackDown)

These are “WWE Live” shows, and they skip the television tapings set for Detroit (Dec. 28 for the Raw airing on New Year’s Eve) and Pittsburgh (Dec. 29 for the SmackDown which will air on New Year’s Day). So don’t expect Cena to figure in any storylines.

Does that mean he won’t be at Royal Rumble? We’ve just dealt with a couple Cena-less ‘Big Four’ pay-per-view (PPV) events. Even though he’s not gone, we might need to get used to not seeing him at major shows.
