Just after their General Manager had an accident, and the former champion caused a scene and was thrown out of the building, the Cruiserweights got a big pay-per-view (PPV) showcase moment at Survivor Series.
The Staples Center crowd was a bit distracted after all that went down before current Cruiserweight champ Buddy Murphy began his title defense against Mustafa Ali. The two men tried a couple high spots early to get the crowd back, with Ali flying onto the champ, and then Murphy shoving the challenger off the ring post and into the barricade.

The delivered a shortened version of their excellent outings on 205 Live throughout the year, and managed to get the crowd chanting “This is Awesome” at one point. It seems certain we’ll see this match-up again on that show at some point, too. But on this night, it was a clean win for the champ, who caught Ali with a knee off an attempted springboard maneuver, then hit his finisher to keep his belt.
