Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Tag match
Raw vs. SmackDown
Everything seemed on track for a straight-forward women’s traditional Survivor Series match. Then Becky Lynch got injured, whatever they had planned with Charlotte Flair got put aside and now Team Blue is down a wrestler.
Before we explore who might join Paige’s team, let’s run down the Raw side. Acting General Manager Baron Corbin put Alexa Bliss in charge, despite the fact she’s still working her way back from some concussion issues. But the Goddess is a great talker and looks stunning in black business wear, so how could they leave her on the shelf?
Bliss picked her friend Mickie James, former friend Nia Jax & her new running buddy Tamina, Natalya, and the woman who just made Natty cry by breaking her deceased father’s sunglasses, Ruby Riott.
What could go wrong?
Noteably absent from that line-up are half of the NXT Horsewomen, Sasha Banks & Bayley. Yeah, we don’t know what went and continues to go wrong there, either. Maybe Dr. Shelby can figure it out.
Anyway... The SmackDown side makes the formation of Raw’s line-up look like a fairy tale. Paige asked Charlotte to be her captain, and still reeling from losing her feud to The Man, Flair said no. The GM tried to pressure the Queen into accepting at least a spot on the team when she introduced the team - Asuka, Carmella, Naomi & Sonya Deville, but Char was still a no show. That led to some bickering between the former Absolution team members, with Mandy Rose wanting to know why she’d been overlooked.
They were set to follow-up on that angle the next week, but Lynch got hurt while Team Blue invaded Monday night, so there was no time to celebrate the ass-kicking they delivered, or to figure out who their fifth member would be. Becky’s on the sidelines, Charlotte’s fighting Ronda Rousey, and SmackDown needs a fifth member.
Possibilities include:
- Rose, who already says she wants on, has history of working well with Paige & Deville, and would make Corey Graves happy. Or...
- An IIconic, and really, Peyton Royce & Billie Kay are a package deal, so if you put either on the team, the other would be there for some of that sweet NUMBERS GAME. Or...
- Lana, who is the best, is #1, and who already dyed her hair blue in solidarity with her potential teammates. Or...
- Maria Kanellis, who is somehow still list on the SmackDown roster page. She does travel with WWE on Tuesdays since her hubby is now a cruiserweight. Or...
- Maryse, if they’re not filming Miz & Mrs. right now, and the A-Lister doesn’t need any brass knucks slipped to him in the men’s elimination tag. Or...
- Zelina Vega, if she’s healthy, and Alexa promises to keep Nia & Tamina away from Andrade Almas’ business associate. Or...
- Nikki Cross, who is kind of on the SmackDown roster? Her teammates in SAnitY will be wrestling on the Kickoff, and she gave Lynch a good fight in Manchester a couple weeks back. This pick would be very popular with NXT-heads and smarks everywhere.
We know who it won’t be. Sorry Sasha & Bayley...
