AJ Styles was originally scheduled to face Brock Lesnar at the Survivor Series event set to take place on Sun., Nov. 18, 2018, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.
Those plans changed when Daniel Bryan turned heel and defeated Styles for the WWE Championship on this week’s (Nov. 13) episode of SmackDown Live. SmackDown’s WWE Champion will battle it out against Raw’s Universal Champion at Survivor Series, which means Daniel Bryan will now represent the blue brand against the Beast Incarnate.
With Jeff Hardy named as Bryan’s replacement for the SmackDown men’s team at Survivor Series, AJ Styles no longer has a scheduled match at this pay-per-view (PPV).
If AJ Styles does not compete in a match at Survivor Series, then his streak of wrestling on 32 consecutive PPV events will come to a shocking end. Styles has wrestled on every single PPV that he has been eligible for ever since he debuted with WWE at Royal Rumgle 2016. His streak could also be bumped up to 34 events if you count the two shows from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 2018.
Unless a last minute change is made to the Survivor Series card, it looks like his incredible streak will come crashing to a halt due to a creative decision rather than injury.
Do you think the Phenomenal One still has a path towards getting a match at Survivor Series, Cagesiders? Or should he kiss this streak goodbye?
