Becky Lynch is now redefining what it is to be The Man.
To be The Man you have to beat The Man, and right now Lynch is putting her own twist on the time honored pro wrestling trope.
Despite being off Survivor Series with multiple injuries, Lynch is still making the media rounds to promote the event. Speaking with UK outlet PinkNews, Lynch tells how her ‘The Man’ catchphrase was born and the explains why only she deserves that title.
“I am the top dog. Gender be damned. The Man is not about gender. It’s a state of mind, it’s about being at the top.”
Lynch continued:
“It’s walking into the locker room—the male locker room—it’s like, ‘Sorry, lads, none of you are cutting the mustard. I’m the man now. I’m taking over the ship now.’ I’m the most victorious of all Superstars, both on Raw and SmackDown, in 2018. I’ve won the most matches. Therefore, I am The Man of not just the women’s locker room, but also the men’s locker room.”
At the end of the interview Lynch would even go on to cut a impassioned promo advocating for LGBT+ inclusion in pro wrestling, saying
“It doesn’t matter your gender, your race, your sexuality, whatever it is, that we’re all equal. That’s what I want to get over more than anything. We are all 100 percent equal, and it’s what you do with it that counts.”
Not just The Man for some, Becky Lynch is The Man for all and that’s pretty cool.
With her star brighter than ever before, who in the Raw or SmackDown locker rooms could currently make a case for Lynch’s self proclaimed title of ‘The Man’?
