Well, this sucks.
According to Fightful.com’s sources, Becky Lynch suffered a broken nose and a concussion during the invasion angle which ended Raw last night (Nov. 12). As a result, she’s been pulled from this Sunday’s Survivor Series match against Ronda Rousey. The site initially reported last night that Lynch was being checked by doctors and did not immediately travel with the rest of the SmackDown Women’s roster to St. Louis for this evening’s taping. She has been active on social media since the incident, specifically promoting pics of her bleeding from the injuries she sustained during the brawl portion of the segment.
No word yet on how WWE will try to replace what was by far their hottest angle heading into their annual November pay-per-view (PPV).
The only possible silver lining is this means the company doesn’t have to pick a winner, or construct a way to get there which doesn’t cool off either their fastest rising star or their biggest mainstream crossover one. A Lynch vs. Rousey program can be revisited down the road, with more time to build it. The irony, of course, is that the images of the bloodied SmackDown Women’s champion created all the build they needed, but the injuries which gave them those images apparently cost them the match.
Expect this to lead to one or possibly more changes to the card for Staples Center this weekend.
Stay tuned.
