The end of September wasn’t great to WWE in the TV numbers. And just like the meme, the start of October got even scarier.
SmackDown lost 98K viewers from an already sub-par audience a week prior, with 2,095,000 tuning in on USA Network Oct. 2 for the final push toward Super Show-Down and its three blue brand title matches. The show didn’t have to deal with football, but did run into a one-game baseball playoff featuring the popular Chicago Cubs which won the night on cable with over 6 million viewers. SmackDown was the tenth most watched cable original, behind the Rockies win over the Cubbies, and the usual political talk on MSNBC and Fox News.
Demographic share down again, too. WWE finished second to baseball with a .68 among 18 - 49 year olds. Those were SmackDown’s lowest numbers in both metrics since the middle of summer.
