Evolution’s Mae Young Classic final match will be...

Mae Young Classic on Twitter

Non-spoiler-averse fans have known about this one for a long time, but we finally got to see the last of the build to the finals of the 2018 Mae Young Classic (MYC) when the semi-finals aired tonight (Oct. 24).

Toni Storm vs. Io Shirai will happen on Sun., Oct. 28 in Long Island at WWE’s first-ever all-women’s pay-per-view (PPV), Evolution.

The MYC final may very well complete the line-up for the show. The card still looks a little light to me, but Storm vs. Shirai is one which could be counted on to eat up a lot of minutes if they do end up running with just seven matches. It has an interesting story to it, too - in addition to being for that prestigious glass trophy, it also pits a young Australian who beat two great joshi competitors en route to the finals against one of the greatest joshi wrestlers of all-time.

Here’s what’s set for NYCB Live this weekend:

  • Ronda Rousey (c) vs. Nikki Bella for the Raw Women’s title
  • Charlotte Flair vs. Becky Lynch (c) in a Last Woman Standing match for the SmackDown Women’s championship
  • Alexa Bliss & Mickie James vs. Trish Stratus & Lita
  • Kairi Sane (c) vs. Shayna Baszler for the NXT Women’s title
  • Historic Women’s Battle Royal match for a future championship opportunity
  • Io Shirai vs. Toni Storm in the finals of the 2018 Mae Young Classic
  • Riott Squad vs. Bayley, Natalya & Sasha Banks
