Newark, New Jersey isn’t the first place you’d expect a “CM Punk” chant to break out at a WWE show. But while it’s not exactly Phil Brooks’ beloved Chicago, the tri-state area is a wrestling hotbed and the part of the country where he first broke big with Ring of Honor (ROH). So maybe SmackDown commissioner Shane McMahon was armed with a quip - as it was reported his sister Stephanie was for this verbal haymaker - when the crowd responded to his saying “best in the world” during his World Cup spiel last night (Oct. 23).
But considering Undertaker himself was booed for just mentioning Crown Jewel last Tuesday, McMahon was probably focused on dealing with general heat because he was promoting the controversial show still planned for Saudi Arabia.
We may never know, but I’m gonna believe this was an ad-lib. Either way, it was good. So good, here it is in video and GIF form...

Bravo, Shane. Suit game on point, too.
