UPDATE: Reigns has revealed he has leukemia and will be seeking treatment immediately.
Robbie Fox of Barstool Sports tweeted this out a little while ago. While Fox doesn’t have as long a track record as the most frequently-cited pro wrestling journalists, he is known to be connected to a few people backstage at WWE and has been right in the past. So while we wouldn’t etch this in stone just yet, there’s no reason to dismiss it out of hand, either:
WWE Crown Jewel could be in trouble.— Robbie Fox (@RobbieBarstool) October 22, 2018
I was just told Reigns is currently injured and that Cena and Bryan are "refusing" to work the show. Many on the current WWE roster have expressed concerned with going, as well, but obviously not all of them have the power like Cena/Bryan.
The Roman Reigns injury news would be in line with a story we already covered - the Universal champ missing all three house shows he was advertised for last weekend. Cards are subject to change, of course, but not unannounced with a star as big as Roman - at least not usually. An injury big enough to consider pulling him from one of Crown Jewel’s main events, a Triple Threat with Braun Strowman and Brock Lesnar, would be the kind of thing which could result in a last minute change like that.
It’s also not the first we’ve heard about talent having reservations about working Crown Jewel as long as it was happening in Saudi Arabia. But it’s the first we’ve heard specific names, and certainly the first we’ve heard of stars the magnitude of Daniel Bryan and John Cena.
