NXT TakeOver: WarGames 2 match card & rumors (SPOILERS)

WWE.com

NXT is in its longest lull of the year between TakeOver live events, but with only a month until their annual pre-Survivor Series show, it was definitely time to start setting up their Sat., Nov. 17 show in Los Angeles. Their final taping before WarGames 2 went down at Full Sail Wednesday night (Oct. 17).

Here’s the card for next month in Staples Center, as it stands based on Wednesday night’s spoilers (get them in full here):

- Undisputed ERA (Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong) vs. War Raiders, Ricochet & Pete Dunne in WarGames

Four-on-Four WarGames! YES!

If there was a complaint about last year’s WWE version of the two rings-one cage Dusty Rhodes invention, it was the three teams of three set-up. Fish’s return seems to save us from that, even if it means no Moustache Mountain. And a babyface team that seems destined to butt heads.

We’ve had plenty of signs these men would be in this match for months now, regardless of the format. The final push was a brawl that started as the ERA vs. Raiders, before first the North American champ and then the UK titleholder joined the fight.

Doesn’t seem either those belts or Strong & O’Reilly’s tag straps are on the line here, but we shall see. KOR defeated Hanson in singles action to earn the advantage for Undisputed, and Dunne was seen hobbling on his injured foot... perhaps playing things up for an angle, or maybe a legitimate concern to pay attention to.

That’s the only officially booked bout, but other matches they seem to be building to include...

- Tommaso Ciampa (c) vs. Velveteen Dream for the NXT championship

The champ’s involvement helped Lars Sullivan beat Dream in the main event of the tapings, but a post-match scrap between Ciampa and Velveteen ended with Dream holding the belt and listening to whatever it allegedly says to Tommy Entertainment on the regular. Sure sounds like the final push to a TakeOver title match to us.

- Johnny Gargano vs. Aleister Black

Or maybe Gargano with the similarly, suddenly black-clad Candice LeRae against Aleister & Nikki Cross? The back story for either can be found here.

- Matt Riddle vs. Kassius Ohno

The veteran’s been asking for William Regal’s “shiny new toy” for weeks, bro. And since the King of Bros made his TV debut on Wednesday night, he seems as good an option as any for Riddle’s first TakeOver match. Bro.

There were a lot of women’s matches at the taping, but none featuring either of the wrestlers who will fight for the NXT Women’s title at Evolution next Sunday. Expect WarGames to have a women’s match, but who? A number one contender’s match for the right to face the winner of Shayna Baszler/Kairi Sane IV? A NXT UK Women’s championship affair so Trips can get some exposure for his new baby?

These four and one more would give WarGames2 the typical allotment of matches.
