SmackDown 1000 ratings (Oct. 16, 2018): Everybody loves a celebration

WWE.com

Who doesn’t love a celebration?

SmackDown 1000 promised big stars - and we’re not just talking about The Champ, Becky Lynch - and those stars delivered WWE’s best Tuesday night numbers since April.

2,545,000 tuned in on Oct. 16, up more than 400K from the previous week’s non-anniversary, Evolution-free affair. It’s also a bigger number than Raw got the night before, which probably isn’t Vince McMahon’s dream scenario. But his new TV deals tell us that in the current market, these figures clearly work.

It was a big night all around, however, with two baseball playoff games and the first night of the NBA season. Just as they did on Oct. 9, the blue brand drew the ninth biggest audience among Tuesday’s cable originals. That was behind four sports offerings and several Fox News talk shows. They did beat Rachel Maddow on MSNBC for a change, though!

Demographic share among 18 - 49 year olds was up big from the week prior, too, hitting .92 for SmackDown’s best number since April’s Superstar Shake-up episode. That gave them a fourth place finish in that category, following the two nationally televised basketball openers and the two MLB championship series games.

Can they hold this audience next week? Here’s a list of Tuesday numbers from the past six months while you think about that:
