Here's a place to check results and comment along with the latest airing of WWE NXT in its regular Wednesday night at 8PM Eastern time slot on WWE Network.
Check out our Wednesday morning preview post to get caught up on what's been happening, and what we expect this week.
We'll post match results here, and we will also have our regular reactions post later. In the meantime, and most importantly, this gives you Cagesiders a dedicated place to rave and/or bitch about whatever happens on WWE’s third brand - during its initial broadcast!
NOTE: Spoilers are out there for these pre-taped broadcasts (including here), but many Cagesiders don't partake. If you are going to post or discuss spoilers for this show before they happen, or results of future shows, please use the spoiler bar in your comment.
Enjoy the show!
- Pre-opening hype for our double main events, and then the entrances for one of those are underway as Mauro Ranallo, Nigel McGuinness & Percy Watson welcome us to the show.
- War Raiders def. Undisputed ERA via disqualification; Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong retain the NXT tag titles
Spotlight intros as befitting a championship match. Rowe and Roderick Strong start, and Roddy actually gets an early advantage, but the Raider breaks free with double clotheslines after a UE tag. Kyle O’Reilly gets dragged to the opposite corner, but gets free with leg kicks from the ground. Hanson powers through a double-team, as well.
Fun spot when KOR tries for leg hold, but Rowe just stares at him before lifting him for a slam. He ends up dropping Hanson on Kyle before the hoss Roddy around, too. Even the usual double teams aren’t working, but Strong eventually attacks the back of Rowe’s knee on the apron while the referee was admonishing O’Reilly for something else. The ERA keeps him isolated and works the leg in their corner.
After a long stretch where Undisputed really get to show off their stiking and especially their holds, Rowe gets separation with a STO/Slam. Both men get tags, and Hanson comes out on top with a nearfall on Roddy after a fast paced sequence. With all four men in the ring, Hanson shoves Rowe to convince him to spear him into O’Reilly in the corner, then a sitout powerbomb on Strong gets two. Forearm sends Kyle to the floor and Roddy gets hit with an assisted springboard clothesline. But here’s Adam Cole!
Hanson fights him off so the referee allows the match to continue. Rowe’s knee buckles when he tries something, so Strong hits him with an Olympic Slam for two. Things get crazy ... O’Reilly works the knee and transitions to an ankle, but Hanson slams Roddy onto Kyle to break it up. Kicks and slaps from KOR only pisses Hanson off. Pop-up powerslam from the Raiders, Hanson takes Roddy out with a dive and they hit Fallout, but her comes a healthy Bobby Fish! He takes out everyone with a chair, Cole joins in and that’s it.
- UE scream about running the world and pose as a reunited foursome in the ring.
- Nikki Cross is manicly scribbling notes in a steamy hallway somewhere. She knows!
- Shayna Bazler def. Britt Baker via referee stoppage after the elbow stomp
Total squash. Britt really sells the injury, begging to continue but screaming in pain. Baslzer flattens her with a high knee as she’s being helped up after the bell.
- General Manager William Regal is interviewed. He says he’ll speak to Cross about what she knows after her match tonight.
- Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch def. Bing & Rocky via pinfall
Lorcan starts with the larger Tian Bing, and the Chinese wrestler effectively uses his size advantage to take Oney down and get him into their corner. Rocky comes in and locks in a full nelson, but Lorcan leverages his way out and levels Rocky with a clothesline. Burch comes in hot and takes Rocky down with kicks. A missle dropkick and a head butt allows him to make the tag, tandem implant DDT and that’s it.
- Regal will make a “major NXT championship announcement” next week.
- Bianca Belair vs. Nikki Cross ends in a no contest
Cross with a frenzied attack at the bell, but Bianca takes her down with some ground and pound. Action quickly spills to the floor, where Nikki hurls Belair into the ring steps. She rolls her in for a cover, but can only get one. The EST looks shaken by the continued onslaught, but Bianca catches a crossbody attempt and throws he over her head to get an advantage.
Neck crank, but Cross “hulks up” and gets free. A big drop kick from Belair stops that comeback, and Bianca starts talking trash and showing off, nearly getting the win with a standing moonsault. Nikki counters the delayed implant buster and rolls Belair up for two, then The EST puts Cross back down. She goes for something from the top, which allows Nikki to recover and stomp the midsection with Bianca in a tree of woe. Running bulldog puts Belair down and the Twisted Sister heads up top and gets a nearfall off a crossbody from the top.
Bianca crawls her way to the apron and looks panicked, eventually kicking Nikki away, then leveling her with a stiff sounding forearm to the face. They both take time getting to their feet, and The EST nails Cross with a spear, but Nikki kicks out! She does the same on a couple other covers, then Belair deadlifts her for a sitout powerbomb, but Cross still won’t stay down! Bianca can’t believe it, she puts her hair up and face washes Nikki while screaming stay down. Cross smiles at her and continues trying to get up.
Belair sets Nikki up in the corner and military presses her above her head while declaring herself the best in NXT. Cross slides out the back and nails a DDT, but Bianca kicks out! The Twisted Sister climbs, but her crossbody gets her hair whipped across the stomach! Belair gets up and climbs... Nikki gets up and meets her! They battle on the top - superplex from the middle rope! They’re both down and not moving when THE LIGHTS GO OUT and “Root of All Evil” plays!
- When the lights come up, Belair is gone and Black is sitting cross-legged in the ring. Cross notices him and starts rolling around and laughing. Aleister puts up a hand to stop her, and beckons her with his finger. She drops the smile and pulls herself to him. He menacingly says “TELL. ME.”
She whispers in his ear, and he looks up, shaking with rage. Cross smiles again and slides out of the arena as a seething Black gets to his feet.
