WWE SmackDown Live ratings (Oct. 9, 2018): Staying alive

WWE’s television numbers are still on a cliff, but for the second straight night, they managed to not fall off.

SmackDown’s audience on Oct. 9 grew by approximately 40K from the week prior, hitting 2,135,000. Three big matches announced days in advance and fallout from Super Show-Down helped the blue brand deal with a baseball playoff game between two of the sport’s most famous teams that drew over 7.1 million viewers. Overall, WWE was ninth on the night among cable originals, following Boston’s series clinching victory over New York, and the usual suspects on MSNBC & Fox News.

Demographic share among 18 - 49 year olds was down, but just a tenth of a point at .67. That was good for second on the night after Yankees/Red Sox.

This still isn’t great - they’re staying in their low range, but next week’s loaded anniversary show should boost things considerably.
