WWE announces 16-man Cruiserweight tournament culminating at WrestleMania 34

New, comments

WWE promised two things for this week’s episode of 205 Live: the naming of a General Manager and a clear plan for figuring out the cruiserweight championship situation. To the first point, the artist formerly known as Rockstar Spud will now go by DRAKE MAVERICK and rule the roost.

To the second point: TOURNAMENT.

Indeed, MAVERICK (seriously the best name ever) revealed they will host a 16-man tournament that will culminate at WrestleMania 34 on April 8 in New Orleans. They did not reveal a bracket just yet, nor did they give us the full list of participants. Instead, we got two first round matches on this week’s show.

Cedric Alexander defeated Gran Metalik in the first and TJP beat Tyler Bate in the second.

Next week, Hideo Itami will take on Roddy Strong while Kalisto will battle Lince Dorado.

We’ll keep you up to date as the tournament moves along.
