Reports say Jeremy Borash will work in NXT/Developmental for WWE

More details are coming out about WWE’s surprise hire of long-time Impact talent and executive Jeremy Borash.

In confirming the earlier report, Wrestling Observer says Borash will work in NXT. He was seen at Saturday, Jan. 27’s TakeOver: Philadelphia show before news of his jump broke. He was in town to host one of Jim Ross’ live shows, so most who saw him believed he was just visiting with friends backstage at WWE’s weekend shows.

The site which broke the story, PWInsider, says Borash will indeed be working with the black-and-yellow brand and the developmental system, likely starting at this week’s NXT tapings at Center Stage in Atlanta. They claim he was not brought in to work with Matt Hardy on “Woken Universe” material, but could be tasked with helping craft WWE’s version of the “Broken” gimmick he helped Matt with in Impact.

Borash was known as an advocate for social media promotion and partnerships like Impact and AAA’s work with streaming site Twitch. That could be an area where we quickly see his influence at NXT.

While it doesn’t sound like announcing is in the cards for Borash in WWE, at least initially, his departure does hurt Impact in that area. PWInsider claims the promotion wanted Borash and new co-executive vice-president Don Callis to handle commentary as they moved Josh Mathews into a talent role, but those plans are now up in the air.

We’ll be on the lookout for changes to NXT and Impact’s presentation after this move.
