WWE made as big a deal as it could of Ronda Rousey debuting at the end of the Royal Rumble pay-per-view (PPV) this past Sunday night in Philadelphia, and rightfully so. Various interviews were released featuring “Rowdy” making clear this is no “smash-and-grab” and she’s in this full time.
“This is my life now,” she told ESPN. “First priority on my timeline for the next several years.”
Rousey made it clear that she was going to WrestleMania, but her sudden emergence in WWE has clouded the Team Red Women’s division. What did her handshake with Raw Commissioner Stephanie McMahon mean? What exactly is Rousey planning for this year’s Show of Shows? And how will it be addressed tonight on Raw?
It wasn’t addressed. Not really. They ran a video package recapping her arrival — one that seemed to upset a couple of her new coworkers — but that was about it.
It’s kind of amazing, actually. Rousey appeared at the second biggest WWE event of the year, said she’s all-in and this is her life now, and then missed the very next show on the schedule.
Funny enough, they’re also using her to promote SmackDown Live this week too. I wonder if she’ll be at that show.
